What is Private Security Training? Who Can Get Private Security Training?

 

It is required to be a secondary school graduate of at least 8 years for those who will serve unarmed, and also to be a high school graduate for private security personnel who will serve with guns. If security guard candidates who will work within private security companies fulfill the basic education criteria, it means they can receive private security training. The private security training requirement has been examined in Article 14 of law on private security services numbered 5188. Private security education is divided into basic education and renewal education.

 

There is a different approach for those who graduate from the security-related faculties and vocational schools of higher education. Pursuant to Article 14 of Law No. 5188, those who graduated from the university's security related faculties and vocational schools of higher education are not required to have private security basic training, except for weapons training.

 

In addition to that, in order to work in private security arena, the basic private security training and the education condition that is examined in (b) sub-article in the first clause of the Article no.10 of the Law, are not sought for the people who have retired from The National Security Organization and General Police Enforcement and also the ones who have worked for 5 years at these organizations and quitted from there voluntarily.

 

How Long Does Private Security Training Take?

In the law, the duration of private security training is clearly specified for those who want to work within private security companies and within the scope of private security services:

 

Article 14: Private security basic training consists of theoretical and practical training and weapons training and lasts at least for one hundred and twenty course hours; The renewal training is organized for not less than sixty hours.

Who can give private security training? When it comes to private security training, it is also a matter of curiosity whether this training will be given by whom or not.

 

Again, in accordance with the article 14 of the law, it can be given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs or private institutions that have the permission of the ministry in return for a private security training fee.

Basic concepts

 

We wanted to briefly summarize the concepts that every private security officer candidate who wants to receive private security training and wants to work in private security companies should know under this heading:

 

1) General Law Enforcement

General Directorate of Security, Gendarmerie General Command, Coast Guard Command are included in this class. As it can be understood, they are people who work with guns to maintain peace and public order in the country. The duty of each unit is determined by laws.

 

2) Special Law Enforcement:

They are law enforcement agencies that work in certain positions but can work with general law enforcement agencies when appropriate and have their own laws. The National Intelligence Organization, Forest Protection, General Directorate of Coastal Safety can be given as examples of this type of law enforcement.

 

3) Private Security Service:

It is the armed or unarmed protection of individuals or organizations within the scope of their duties, with the support of private security companies’ personnel.

 

4) Outfit:

Employees of private security companies wear uniforms in their area of ​​duty and throughout their duty. If deemed necessary due to duty and workplace, the commission allows the duty to work in civilian clothing.

 

5) Uniform and Equipment:

The uniforms worn by employees working in private security service and within private security companies cannot be in the color, shape or pattern used in the uniforms of the Turkish Armed Forces, general law enforcement and private law enforcement agencies. The uniform includes the name of the company providing private security service, the logo or sign introducing the company. Uniforms and equipment to be used by private security companies are approved by the Ministry.
